Niegan trasplante de corazón a un chico por su pobreza extrema

Un chico correntino de 13 años de edad enfrenta este miércoles la peor situación de su vida porque las condiciones de extrema pobreza en la que vive en la localidad de Virasoro no son aptas para que reciba un trasplante de corazón y tuvo que volverse desde Buenos Aires a su casa sin ninguna esperanza de vida.
Se trata de Fernando Almeida, quien estaba internado en el hospital de Pediatría Juan Garrahan de Buenos Aires donde, finalmente, le dieron una angustiante noticia a su familia: no puede recibir el corazón de un donante porque las condiciones socioeconómicas de indigencia en su hogar no son aptas para un paciente de alto riesgo.
"Teniendo en cuenta el diagnóstico, la condición social y familiar, se concluye que el paciente no reúne criterios para ingresar en la lista de trasplante cardíaco del Incucai", sostuvo el informe del organismo que se encarga de llevar adelante el proceso de donación de órganos; en este caso, de un corazón para Fernando.
Con ese triste diagnóstico, las autoridades del hospital Garraham de Buenos Aires le dieron el alta y Fernando y su madre regresaron a Corrientes capital el martes pasado sin ninguna solución: su vida depende del corazón con el que nació y que padece de una "miocardiopatía dilatada por influenza B".
María Elena, madre del niño, relató este miércoles que vive en una precaria vivienda de una sola habitación con sus siete hijos y sin tener siquiera un baño instalado con agua potable, condiciones de higiene consideradas no aptas para un paciente de alto riesgo con corazón trasplantado.
