La bajante del Río Paraná complica la exportación de granos
Registra la peor baja en 30 años y afecta las pocas operaciones que seguían en pie, al margen de la cuarentena obligatoria. Los buques cargan menos y según estiman los especialistas el decrecimiento “seguirá acentuándose por casi un mes".
El río Paraná, la principal fuente de agua dulce en la Argentina, registra la mayor bajante en treinta años y existen zonas en las que se puede cruzar caminando, lo que genera serias complicaciones para las exportaciones.
Esta bajante se produjo por las escasas lluvias en la cuenca Paraná-Paraguay, es decir, en el extremo noreste de la Argentina, el sureste de Paraguay y grandes zonas del sur brasileño.
En el último mes, el caudal del río bajó más de un metro: el pasado 6 de marzo la altura del río era de 2,31 metros promedio, y este jueves registraba una altura de 1,05 metros frente a la ciudad santafesina de Rosario.
El actual nivel del río a la altura de las terminales portuarias rosarinas hace que los barcos de gran calado que se apostan en sus muelles, deban cargar, en promedio, de un 10% a un 12% menos del volumen máximo que podrían transportar en sus bodegas.
El jefe de Prefectura Naval Argentina en Rosario, Walter Rosende, explicó que la tendencia aún es de bajante y señaló la situación va a continuar "dependiendo de las condiciones que se presenten en los distintos afluentes de la Cuenca del Plata".
En el puerto de la ciudad de Corrientes, según pudo constatar la agencia NA, los barcos y veleros quedaron literalemente sobre la arena porque el agua desapareció de toda el área donde se encontraban amarrados.
La Entidad Binacional Yacyretá (EBY) comunicó que los caudales circulantes en el tramo inferior de la cuenca del Paraná aguas arriba de la central hidroeléctrica verificarán un leve decremento durante estos días.
Por otra parte, las precipitaciones registradas en la cuenca de aporte directo a Yacyretá no implicaron un incremento significativo en el aporte, por lo que no se prevé que la situación mejore al menos esta semana.
En tanto, el río registraba este jueves una altura de apenas 0,8 metros frente a la ciudad de Paraná, capital de Entre Ríos, con lo que se convierte en la tercera bajante histórica, al superar los 0,86 metros que alcanzó en 1989, hace 30 años.
Esta situación comenzó a complicar las pocas operaciones de exportaciones que seguían en pie, al margen de la cuarentena preventiva y obligatoria dispuesta por el Gobierno para contener la pandemia de coronavirus.

Según informó la Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario (BCR), la bajante provocó que los buques carguen hasta 7.500 toneladas menos de granos en las terminales portuarias de Rosario, además de ocasionar demoras en el proceso de exportación y en la llegada de las barcazas con soja provenientes de Paraguay.
"La altura del río Paraná en el puerto de Rosario ha descendido hasta el metro de altura, nivel que no quiebra hace más de 30 años", dijo la entidad e indicó que por eso "se resiente la carga máxima de los buques, exigiendo extremo cuidado en el practicaje para evitar varaduras".
Se acentuará “por un mes”
Por su parte, el gerente de la Cámara de Actividades Marítimas y Portuaria (Capym), Guillermo Wade, informó que la bajante "seguirá acentuándose por casi un mes" según las previsiones de los especialistas en hidrología.
Wade resaltó que esta situación, que pone presión y ralentiza la logística exportadora argentina, puede en consecuencia agravar el impacto económico en los próximos días.
"La bajante en el Paraná y el río Uruguay va a seguir acentuándose por casi un mes", pronosticó el especialista, ya que "en este escenario extraordinario de escasez de lluvias yo no se ve que haya un repunte significante en las próximas semanas".
La tendencia es el descenso para los próximos días fue ratificada en el pronóstico realizado por el Instituto Nacional del Agua (INA), que depende del Ministerio de Obras Públicas.
A esta situación se suma también la posibilidad de varaduras, las demoras de entre 10 y 15 días en la llegada de las barcazas proveniente de Paraguay con soja, posibles demoras en la carga de aceite de la oleaginosa, y retrasos también en el ritmo de exportación de harina de soja.
Impacto económico y en la fauna
El descenso histórico en el nivel del río Paraná tiene "un singular impacto en la logística de exportación" de granos y subproductos, advirtió recientemente un análisis de la Bolsa de Comercio de Rosario (BCR).
Otro impacto sería una "posible ralentización del programa de embarques de maíz en abril y mayo, lo cual podría generar problemas de saturación en la capacidad de almacenaje del grano dentro de los puertos", señaló la BCR.
La falta de lluvias aguas arriba genera dificultades en el transporte y la logística vinculada, pero también está causando efecto en la fauna ictícola que está en riesgo y las cooperativas de pescadores que en medio de la pandemia y con esta bajante están impedidos a pescar.
