Deporte y discapacidad
Es plausible que el encuentro de deporte adaptado se haya convertido en política de Estado en nuestra ciudad.
Se llevó a cabo días atrás en las instalaciones de la Sociedad Rural San Francisco, el 26º Encuentro Regional Deportivo y Recreativo para personas con discapacidad, tradicional evento organizado de manera gratuita por la Municipalidad de San Francisco y que este año reunió a más de mil niños, jóvenes y adultos para disfrutar de una jornada especial de espaciamiento y recreación. Participaron de la propuesta instituciones de San Francisco, Frontera, Devoto, Freyre, El Tío, Morteros, La Francia, sumándose para esta edición las localidades de Carlos Pellegrini, Ramona, Colonia Marina y Balnearia.
Desde hace más de un cuarto de siglo, la ciudad alberga este encuentro de características muy especiales en las que el deporte es la excusa para un encuentro en el que se configura un ambiente motivador capaz de promover el aprendizaje de habilidades nuevas y fomentar la coordinación, el equilibrio, o la orientación, capacidades que pueden estar en muchos casos afectadas por algún tipo de discapacidad.
Se trata de un evento singular que muestra un costado educativo que no puede desdeñarse cuando se refiere a personas con alguna discapacidad. Es que se ha demostrado que el deporte mejora el bienestar de la persona. Mucho más cuando las limitaciones físicas o de otra índole son obstáculos que deben superarse. Así, la actividad física permite mejorar la autoestima, así como promueve la socialización y la inclusión.
Especialistas de todo el mundo certifican que la práctica del deporte adaptado supone para sus practicantes una ampliación de entornos que genera también capital social manifestado como un punto de encuentro. El niño, el joven, el adulto, tienen la posibilidad, además, de ubicar sus capacidades en el contexto compartido con otras personas con discapacidad, contrastando sus experiencias y pudiéndose equiparar con otros compañeros en situaciones similares durante la práctica de actividad física o deportiva. El ya tradicional encuentro de San Francisco favorece, además, “el deporte de proximidad” que consiste en aplicar la normalización geográfica, donde reside la persona con discapacidad, con el objetivo de prestar los servicios de la comunidad desde una perspectiva de aproximación al entorno social y familiar.
Por esto, es enorme el valor de la jornada que se vivirá hoy en la Rural. El deporte y la recreación dirigidos a las personas con discapacidad alcanza estándares beneficiosos que luego se trasladan a los otros ámbitos en los que estas personas entrañables desarrollan actividades.
Es plausible, entonces, que el encuentro de deporte adaptado se haya convertido en política de Estado en nuestra ciudad. Porque a la iniciativa del municipio se suman entidades públicas y privadas, educativas y de otros ámbitos para llevar adelante una actividad que logra resultados más que auspiciosos con el cumplimiento de sus objetivos.
